Important aspects for the mission to address included the following: (i) review of the rebased PPI compilation methodology; (ii) assessment of the PPI series and the prices data collected and development of a dissemination strategy; (iii) development of the XMPI compilation methodology and determination of the data sources; (iv) selection of the base period, basket and weights; (v) training of staff on the above; and (vi) preparation of documentation on methodological and computational procedures. The conceptual basis of the new PPI was ratified, with the scope extended beyond manufacturing to include mining and quarrying and electricity and water industries. The pricing point is ex-factory, ex-mine, etc., with a valuation basis of basic prices. The index will relate to both domestic usage and exports.
