EXECUTIVE SUMMARYDuring the last ten years Rwanda has experienced one of the most exciting andfastest periods of growth and socio-economic progress in its history. It was tenth fastestgrowing economy in the world during the decade from 2000. At the same time more than amillion people have been lifted out of poverty. Population growth is stabilising and thecountry is making great strides towards achieving the Millennium Development Goals andmiddle income status. A perfect developmental "hat trick" of sustained economic growth (8%average), poverty reduction (12% points) and a reduction in income inequality were achievedover the EDPRS 1 period. There were key lessons learned from the EDPRS 1 Self assessmentReport from both success and shortcomings that have shaped the EDPRS 2 elaboration.
