Recent economic developments reflect a more challenging external environment as well as a sharpening of macro-financial imbalances that began emerging late in 2014. While relatively strong economic growth continues in the context of low overall inflation, the heavy focus on political transition since the beginning of the year has delayed needed adjustments to macroeconomic policies. Quick action is needed to reestablish credible policies and restore confidence.
